Growing up in Montreal, Special K (born Raffi Kenadjian in 1981) was exposed to a variety of cultures where music played a vital role. As early as he could remember, Special was drawn to music in a profound way. His infatuation was amplified when, at an early age, he became fascinated with the art of DJing and later during his high-school years when he started organizing and DJing parties and events. It was not long before he started his week-end excursions to the biggest nightclubs to hear the city’s best DJs. That is where Special’s knowledge and style flourished. He became an idealist and a perfectionist true to the art form. Many started to notice his determined demeanor and integrity. His ambition proving to be as sharp as his mixing skills, many prestigious nightclub residencies came to him. Having fashioned many nights with his unique vibe and atmosphere, Special has become one of the most respected figures in the scene by holding down key residencies in Montreal’s most renown clubs, including the internationally known “Club Opera”. His influences (local and international) have been: Dj Crash, Toddy Flores, Jazzy Jeff & Dj Premier. The next progression into the studio has come naturally to Special as he continues to apply his knowledge and love of music to his own productions by spending countless hours at his second home, Redd Rugg studios. His business savvy also plays an essential role along side his passion of music as he co-owns and operates a Montreal based independent record label, Souled Out Records. Special K has opened for such hosts & acts as: Ne-Yo, Black Eyed Peas, PussyCat Dolls, Nas, Pamela Anderson, De La Soul, Massari, Dave Navarro, Dj Premier, Dj Jazzy Jeff, 112, Carmen Elektra and more…
