I read the paper today and there was an article about the trial of the killers of my boy Raymond Ellis. In the article, his dad mentions a conversation they had when Michaelle Jean became the first black Governor General of Canada. He mentions how he would've loved to see him become Prime Minister of Canada and how happy he would've been to see what was going on today. Well, Ray there's gonna be a new President in the US! We wish you were here to be part of this memorable day!
History has been made! The melting pot that is America has spoken! Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States and is the 1st Black President! Congratulations to Mr Obama!
I got chills watching the event unfold. Even though Obama lead the whole time by a substantial amount, it was still nerve racking. But when the dude from CNN broke it down at about 9-10 o'clock saying that he couldnt see McCain hitting the magic number of 270, I was relieved and was ready to see Obama take the stage.
Even though I am not American, I am proud of Mr Obama. I am also happy for the American people. The American Dream is alive! Seeing the joy on the faces of the the people on TV was touching. The faces of people like Jesse Jackson, the people at Martin Luther King's church, the people in Chicago.
Obama is part of history. I read a quote somewhere that said: "Rosa sat so Martin could walk. Martin walked, so Obama could run. Obama is running so our children can fly." Congrats to Mr Obama and to America!!!
